What can AI really learn about us from the traces we leave behind — where we go, how we react, what we feel? This evening explores how machines are beginning to read human behavior in the real world, and what that could mean for the future of cities, technology, and society.
Houston, We Have a Feeling: How Our Senses Build on Each Other
Elyse D. Z. Chase
(Postdoctoral Fellow - Rice University)
How do we know what is real: from what we see, what we hear, or what we feel? I explore how the brain combines touch with other senses to interpret the world, especially when signals agree, clash, or create illusions. Using haptic technology and virtual and augmented reality, I study how our senses work together to shape perception, interaction, and experience.
Artificial Intelligence for Human Mobility
Shushman Choudhury
(Google Research)
Your phone knows where you are, but can it ever understand the chaos of your morning commute? We think it can, and this talk explores how we are building AI that learns the "language" of cities, turning messy data into a deep understanding of how people move and interact within the built environment. You will walk away seeing how smart digital models lay the foundation for better location services, digital maps, and transportation systems.
