The Coming Transportation Revolution

Moshe Vardi (Professor in Computational Engineering and Director of the Ken Kennedy Institute for Information Technology)
Driving is about to be automated, rendering human driving obsolete. The automation of driving would leash a dramatic "transportation revolution", with profound societal impact. This revolution is likely to save the lives of at least one million people per year worldwide, but also eliminates tens of millions of jobs.
This talk will describe the technologies that are "driving" this revolution, and discuss its profound consequences.

Bot or Not

Josh Urban Davis (University of Houston)
Part poetry reading, part game show, part Turing test, this lecture will cover several different models of natural language generation with the aim of creating poetry. Audiences will be asked to determine if the given poem is created by a human or a computer. The results may surprise you.
