Math Education and the Future of Air Mobility

My research program explores mathematical cognition, addressing questions like: why do people hate math? Why so many dread doing math? How can we help children grasp difficult math concepts in school, and how can adults apply these ideas to everyday decisions, such as managing finances and health? I’ll discuss how understanding the psychological barriers to math can inform strategies for improving math education and decision-making, ultimately empowering people to tackle math in both academic and real-world contexts.

Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is transforming air travel, especially in urban areas. This talk explores the fusion of aeronautics, engineering, and hands-on practice in shaping AAM’s future. From eVTOL aircraft to drone logistics and smart skyports, AAM advances are driven by innovations in mechanical, electrical, and aerospace engineering. Kent State University plays a key role in preparing future professionals, blending engineering with aviation training. We’ll cover AAM developments, challenges, and how education programs are equipping the next generation for this evolving field.
