Drug overdoses caused more than 100,000 deaths in the US in 2023, with synthetic opioids like fentanyl contributing to nearly 70 percent of these deaths. As the search for improved ways to prevent and reverse overdose continues, this talk will focus on presenting successes and challenges arising in the development of vaccine-like approaches as a means to block rewarding and toxic effects of opioids, stimulants, cannabinoids, and beyond.
